Sophie Schwartz is a dance artist and choreographer currently based out of New York City. She is originally from Denver, Colorado and started her dance training primarily at the Denver School of the Arts. Upon moving to New York in 2022, she attended the New York University Tisch School of the Arts Dance Program under the direction of Pamela Pietro and Sean Curran. There, she became enamored with contemporary and contemporary ballet forms and fostered a love for dance making. She also had the opportunity to perform works by Kyle Marshall and Sasha Waltz and Guests which furthered her interest in diverse choreographic processes. She has also participated in intensives with Complexions Contemporary Ballet and Berlin’s B12 Summer Festival where she worked with artists such as Pau Aran, Lali Ayguadé, and Fabian Thomé. Her wide range as a performer and passionate interest in dance as research fuels her exploration of movement and ability to convey narrative and texture. Sophie continues to create and perform works that challenge boundaries and invite audiences to dive into their deepest thoughts, desires, and memories.
